When was the first time you saw a data center with multiple racks for servers, storage and network gear? 15 years ago? 20 years ago?
DAMAC actually began manufacturing racks for many of the first corporate data centers more than 30 years ago. In fact, we got our start by stacking IBM controllers for Hughes Aircraft in the late 1970s.
Back in those days, the only racks available were designed for the telecom industry, to provide a neat and tidy home for switching equipment. We felt that a similar product could help bring order to the fledgling data center market.
We got to work developing innovative products – and we haven’t stopped. Today, we create products for organizing, securing and cooling the modern, scalable data center. We believe that strategically designed, well-built racks can bring so much more to the table by providing data centers with better structural integrity, flexibility and cooling efficiency.
Now, by launching the DAMAC blog, we offer you a window into what drives this innovative spirit.
Today’s corporate data center is denser and more complex than ever. To be effective, the corporate network must maintain the highest levels of availability, reliability, flexibility and storage capacity.
Consequently, the racks that house the equipment for these data centers must:
- Support much heavier weight loads and maintain structural integrity during transit.
- Accommodate equipment from multiple vendors and provide more usable space within a smaller footprint to deliver the best possible ROI.
- Enable proper airflow management in order to avoid high temperatures and humidity while reducing cooling costs.
Taking these and other factors into consideration, we design, manufacture and configure data center racks with the goal of maintaining optimal data center performance and reducing operational costs for our customers.
Yes, data center racks are much more than shelving units. Instead of focusing on what they can physically hold, you need to consider what these racks can strategically enable, and how they can protect your critical investment in IT infrastructure.
This blog will explain various data center rack options, factors to consider when making a purchase, the latest market trends and products, and how you can leverage the right rack to improve how you do business.
Simply put, we want to empower you with the information you need to make the smartest possible decisions. This kind of information isn’t available in a product description, a sales proposal or an online search.
This is the knowledge we’ve gained by developing industry-leading products for more than 30 years, and we’d like to pass it along to you. We hope you’ll visit the DAMAC blog often, leave comments, ask questions and tell us what kind of information you’d like us to cover.
